La curcúma es una hierba con un tallo pequeño de hojas grandes y oblongas con rizomas ovalados, elípticos o piriformes, ocasionalmente ramificados y de color amarillo pardusco. De amplia gama de propiedades, posee actividades antioxidantes, antiinflamatorias, antibacterianas, anticancerígenas y antimutagénicas.
