La depresión perinatal es una alteración del estado de ánimo que puede afectar a las mujeres durante el embarazo y después del parto, con una alta prevalencia que podría tener efectos perjudiciales tanto para la madre, hijo y otros miembros de la familia. De allí que sea muy importante realizar intervenciones integrales y a diferentes niveles, como actividades preventivas psicoeducativas destinadas a informar a la población, identificación y pesquisa a mujeres embarazadas con factores de riesgo, entre otros.
